<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of enhancing accuracy in the correction of developing density at the time of forming an image by preventing the variance of a detection distance from a density detection sensor to an image carrier on which a reference patch is formed, and the lowering of density detecting accuracy because of the irregular density of a reference patch caused by the variance of potential characteristics due to the variance of the film thickness of a photoreceptive film. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a patch forming means for forming the reference patch A consecutively or intermittently at a predetermined pitch on the surface of an image carrier 5, a density detection means 13 for detecting the density of the reference patch A, an average value arithmetic calculation means for arithmetically calculating the average value of the density of the reference patch A detected by the density detection means 13, and a condition adjustment means for performing the adjustment of an image forming condition based on the average value of the density of the reference patch A arithmetically calculated by the average value arithmetic calculation means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
