PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AV reproduction method capable of acquiring image data adaptive to audio data from an external device and reproducing the audio data and the image data synchronously with each other in the case of reproducing the audio data recorded on a recording medium. SOLUTION: First, the AV reproduction apparatus acquires audio data management information from an optical disk 100 and stores the information to an internal data storage section 102, and acquires external image data positional information from an external device 113 and stores the information to an external data storage section 111. Then an adaptive data position specifying means 110 collates the audio data management information with the external image data positional information to search external image data adaptive to the audio data. Then the AV reproduction apparatus acquires the searched external image data from the external device 113 at reproduction of the audio data and reproduces the audio data and the external image data synchronously with each other.
