PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a navigation system from displaying inappropriate maps, until the current position is determined by using GPS data, when a power source is turned on, after being turned off, in a vehicle moving to a distant place. SOLUTION: When the power source is turned off, data of a receivable broadcasting station are stored in a channel area code memory section 26. When the data are discriminated as being different from that of a receivable broadcasting station by comparing with each other, when turning the power source on, discrimination is conducted that the vehicle in which the power source is turned off, has moved to the distant place; and after that the power source is turned on. Then, the map of an area which is specified by the data of the receivable broadcasting station stored when turning the power source on, is displayed, until a section 34 for detecting completion of GPS data acquisition detects that its current position has been determined by using the GPS data.
