PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fastener for an umbrella beautifully finished by aligning the folded pleat parts of a tent section when folded with a single simple operation, and to provide the umbrella equipped with the fastener and a method of binding the umbrella using the fastener. SOLUTION: The fastener 1 for the umbrella comprises one fitting part provided at a folded piece at one end of a longitudinal part 11a of a soft plastic tape 11; the other fitting part provided at the other end of the longitudinal part; a finger pressing part made of hard plastic having a curved surface protrusively provided across the whole width of the tape in a position closer to one side, of the other fitting part and inclined onto one side, and a finger abutting surface formed in a nearly erected state on the other side; and a sticking margin extended to the other side end of the longitudinal part and stuck to the tent section of the umbrella. The one fitting part and the other fitting part are detachably fittable to each other, and the one fitting part is self-holdable in shape.
