The coupling sleeve (1) for an installation fitting designed for the operating of valves or slides in underground gas or water mains connects the key rod (2) of the fitting to the spindle (3) of the valve. The sleeve is formed from a base component (6) in which is installed an upper (7) and a lower square socket (8) which are designed in such a way that for adapting to different sizes of key rods or spindle rods adapter pieces can be fitted inside the sockets. The adapter pieces are made in different sizes and can fit one inside the other.
