<p>A jet head box (10) for a semiconductor substrate (16) and nozzle plate (18) containing fluid jet actuators. The jet head box (10) includes an elongate substantially rigid body (16) having a first surface (19) and a second surface (20) opposite the first surface (19). The body (16) also includes a first recessed portion defining a substrate pocket area (22) in the first surface (19) thereof. An elongate slot (30) extends through the body (16) from the second surface (20) to the first surface (19) in the substrate pocket area (22). An encapsulant dam (26) is provided adjacent at least one end (24) thereof. A shelf (28) is adjacent the encapsulant dam (26). The jet head box (10) provides a low cost construction for simple miniature fluid jetting devices.</p>
