PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial grating multiple layer film medium provided with all of an excellent signal to noise ratio (S/N), high coercive force, and demagnetization resistance by making reduction of transition noise and high magnetic anisotropy compatible, and to provide an magnetic storage device provided with high S/N and demagnetization resistance even in high plane recording density. SOLUTION: This magnetic recording medium is a magnetic recording medium in which recording layers in which at least a soft magnetic layer, a seed layer, Co, and Pd are laminated alternately are laminated in order on a non-magnetic substrate, the recording layer includes B, satisfies 0.07≤B atomic concentration/(Pd atomic concentration+B atomic concentration)≤0.15, also, this medium comprises assembly of fcc crystal particles, and an average value of (111)plane spacing of the fcc crystal 2.25Åor less.
