PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a meter reading system allowing easy meter reading of an electronic water meter without using a wireless master unit or a wireless slave unit. SOLUTION: In this meter reading system 1 for the electronic water meter, an installation part 13 of the electronic water meter 4 is detachably installed with a meter-reading IC tag unit 5. When performing data requirement to the meter-reading IC tag unit 5 by wireless communication from a meter-reading wireless handy terminal 6, the requirement is transferred to the electronic water meter 4, and measurement data 50 held in a storage part 43 thereof are read, are temporarily stored in an IC tag 23 of the meter-reading IC tag unit 5, are transferred to the meter-reading wireless handy terminal 6 by the wireless communication by a wireless communication function, and are collected by the handy terminal 6.
