PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water pump driving device which can prevent overheat and overcool of a main engine by supplying an appropriate amount of cooling water to the main engine in accordance with the operating state of the main engine. SOLUTION: When it is judged that the main engine 5 is in a predetermined low-rotation high-load operating state or high-rotation low-load operating state, an electromagnetic clutch 30 is released so that the driving force of the main engine 5 is intercepted while the driving force of a sub engine 6 is transmitted to a water pump 8a via a belt B2. As a result, the water pump 8a is driven by the driving force of the sub engine 6. On the other hand, when it is judged that the main engine 5 is not in the above-described operating state, the electromagnetic clutch 30 is engaged so that the driving force of the main engine 5 is transmitted to the water pump 8a via a belt B1 and the belt B2 or the like.
