PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2,3-dihydroxypropyl-(meth)acrylamide suppressing the formation of by-products. SOLUTION: The method for producing a compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein, R denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group) is carried out as follows.
