Optimization of school start times and timetables for public transport, by calculating mutual interaction of time windows, and eliminated decision variables

The method involves calculating the interaction of time windows, and adapts the earliest possible and latest possible start time to a journey, to comply with constraints relating to school start time, transport interchanges and linked journeys. A message is output if inconsistencies resulting from the interaction calculation imply an unsolvable problem. A technique eliminates decision variables of changed time windows to fix the decision variable to "no" or "yes". An independent claim is included for a computer program product.
