<p>A device for producing accurately defined droplets comprises a ferromagnetic tube with an integral piston positioned inside two coaxial solenoid coils (6, 7) and filled with a fluid. The outer end of the tube is provided with a jet (3) to generate the droplets. The system can be heated and can operate at higher than conventional temperatures, e.g. to handle low melting point metals. Permanent magnets can be included in the magnetic circuit and the movement of the tube is limited by stops.</p> |
