An organic EL display apparatus has first and second sets of stripe electrodes (116,117), and third and fourth sets of stripe electrodes (103,104) running in a direction intersecting the first and second stripe electrodes. The organic EL display apparatus further comprises, for each of the pixels, a light emitting part (110) having one of its electrodes electrically connected to a stripe electrode of the fourth set; a transistor element (130) electrically connected to a stripe electrode of the fourth set and to the other electrodes of the light emitting part for controlling the current flowing through the light emitting part; a first rectifying element (121) electrically connected to the gate electrode of the transistor element and to a stripe electrode of the second set; a second rectifying element (122) electrically connected to the gate electrode of the transistor element and to a stripe electrode of the third set; and a capacitor (106) electrically connected to the gate electrode of the transistor element and to a stripe electrode of the fourth set.
