PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform color limitation processing while keeping good gray balance for image data. SOLUTION: For image data being supplied from an image reader 2, a control section 11 performs color limitation processing by executing a program PRG stored in an HDD 12. When color limitation processing is carried out, the control section 11 calculates the distance (first distance) to a gray axis and the distance (second distance) to such a representative color as minimizing the color difference from a remarked pixel out of representative colors included in a color table TBL for each pixel included in the image data. The remarked pixel is converted into the representative color on the gray axis when the first distance is shorter than the second distance, and converted into such a representative color as minimizing color difference from the remarked pixel when the first distance is longer than the second distance.
