PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such an optical disk drive that a quick storage is allowed while a cost reduction is attained and further a roller or the optical disk is prevented from being burdened. SOLUTION: At the time the optical disks 12 are inserted inside a main body 13 and stacked for storage, when the storing operation of the optical disks 12 is started by a storage start operating means 6, rotation of a pair of rollers 14, 14 is started and the optical disks 12 become the storage allowable state. After that, the disks 12 are inserted from a loading/unloading port 11 and the storing operation of the optical disks 12 are successively carried out. Thus, since a preparation of an expensive photosensor for detecting the optical disk to be inserted like a conventional practice is unnecessary, the cost reduction of the optical disk drive 10 is attained, and the insertion of a transmissible optical disk 12 is also allowed. Further, since the loading/unloading rollers 14 are rotated before the optical disks 12 are inserted, the quick insertion/storage are attained as compared with such a case that the rotation of the rollers 14 is started after the optical disks 12 are detected, and also the burden to the rollers 14 or optical disks 12 can be reduced.
