PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform an auto-focus photographing through glass. SOLUTION: A control circuit 10 detects a focal position of a photographic lens 11 at each object in focusing the photographic lens on each of two or more objects shown in an image photographed through the photographic lens 11, and determines the presence of an effect of the glass on the image pickup performed through the glass, and when judging that this effect exists, the circuit selects one of the focal positions except that of the nearest object from the photographic lens among each focal position of the objects as a result of the focus detection.
