PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foreign matter detector capable of certainly detecting foreign matter such as hair, a fiber or the like difficult to detect heretofore and low in luminosity even when the foreign matter is not measured in the diameter of an object to be fed such as a tablet or the like without using a complicated mechanism. SOLUTION: The foreign matter detector is constituted so that an illumination means 15 for illuminating a feed belt 13, a photographing means 14 for photographing the feed belt 13 and a foreign matter detecting means 25 for detecting the foreign matter from the image obtained by the photographing means 14 are provided with respect to the feed belt 13 for continuously feeding the object to be fed (tablet T) constant in color and luminosity. The color and luminosity of the feed belt 13 are selected so as to be different from those of the object to be fed (tablet T) and, when an image different from the object to be fed in color and luminosity is obtained or an image different from the feed belt in color and luminosity is obtained, the image is judged to be foreign matter by the foreign matter detecting means.
