PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device having reduced manufacturing cost, a less increased number of components and simplified and miniaturized construction. SOLUTION: The power transmission device comprises a clutch housing 2, a clutch member 4, a pressure plate 5, and a stopper part 5b fitted into a recessed part 4a formed in the inner peripheral wall of the clutch member 4 for restricting the rotation of the pressure plate 5. Rotating force input to a gear 1 is transmitted to or cut off the shaft 3 with pressure contact or separation between a driving side clutch plate 6 and a driven side clutch plate 7. The stopper part 5b and the recessed part 4a each have a pressure contact assist cam for increasing pressure contact force between the driving side clutch plate 6 and the driven side clutch plate 7 or a back torque limiter cam for performing separation between the driving side clutch plate 6 and the driven side clutch plate 7.
