PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a gel-like cosmetic excellent in the controlling effect on sebum and good in feeling in use as well. SOLUTION: This gel-like cosmetic comprises (A) a polysaccharide derivative where a part or the whole of the hydrogen atoms of the hydroxy groups in a polysaccharide or its derivative are each substituted with the following group(a), (B) a volatile oil and (C) water; wherein the group(a) is represented by the formula(1):E<SP>1</SP>-(OA)<SB>n</SB>-E<SP>2</SP>-R[ wherein, E<SP>1</SP>is a (hydroxy- or oxo-substituted) 1-6C bivalent saturated hydrocarbon group; OA is an oxyalkylene group, wherein A is a 1-6C bivalent saturated hydrocarbon group; (n) is 0-300; E<SP>2</SP>is an ether linkage or oxycarbonyl group; and R is a (hydroxy-substituted) 4-30C alkyl ].
