The motor vehicle has a base, in that a longitudinal tunnel is provided and exhaust system arranged. A front wall of a passenger space follows an engine compartment where the engine compartment has an engine interior, a hood, and side panels separated by a distance to each other. A front wall encloses the base. The base has a lining (9, 10) and the engine compartment (2) has an air deflector panel (18). The air deflector panel has an entrance opening (19) for the engine interior. The air deflector panel has an outlet (20), in an opening of the base. The air deflector panel is positioned toward the outlet open profile and the air deflector panel is diagonally arranged upwards towards a wall section (32) running under an angle A into the engine interior (26). The profile of the air deflector panel is formed as a polygonal or an arc-shaped cross section.
