A current supply system for electrical units in vehicles comprises reserve current storage capacitor (CBPS), battery-connected choke coil (L) and boot converter and back converter in case of battery failure. The converters are together in a main unit comprising two power transistors (M1,M2) back-to-back between coil and capacitor electrode. An independent claim is also included for the following: (A) a current supply as above; and (B) process to measure capacitance and resistance of the reserve current supply.
