Artificial snow production, e.g. for production of chilled pre-mixed concrete, avoids lump-formation by using draught tube baffle crystallizer vessel, fed with water and liquid nitrogen

Artificial snow is continuously produced in a tubular baffle crystallizer vessel (1, 16), fed with water, cold gas and/or liquid nitrogen, and circulated upwards into a baffle tube (16) by a fan (6). The feeds are sprayed into the baffle tube which may have a closed upper end, or be an open draught tube allowing recirculation of gas and particles upwards through the tube. An independent claim is included for the production of artificial snow by injecting water into an upwards flow of cold gas.
