The invention relates to novel ion exchangers containing carboxyl groups and (CH2)mNR1R2 groups, with improved exchange kinetics and selectivity. The invention also relates to a method for the production of said ion exchangers, and to the use of the same for the adsorption of metals, especially arsenic, when said metals are additionally charged with iron oxide/iron oxide hydroxide.
