A bio-specimen detection device for observing and measuring a bio-specimen such as an electrophoresis device, comprising a plate-like body formed of a material allowing a wavelength at least necessary for detecting the specimen among the wavelength components of a light source to be transmitted therethrough in combination with the light source and refracting a light from the light source by a recessed/projected structure formed on the surface thereof, or comprising a plurality of light reflecting plates bent at the end parts thereof to form a projected structure. By using the plate-like body or the light reflecting plates, the irradiation intensity of the light from the light source can be uniformized, and the device can be reduced in size and cost, easily carried, and formed in a size also suitable as a training aid.
