<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit and method for down converting a modulated signal, while shortening the non-resonating phase. <P>SOLUTION: A pole switch down-converter with a symmetric resonator which shortens the non-resonating phase to approximately half of the RF carrier period of the modulated signal is proposed. The down-converter comprises a first and secondλ/2 resonators (1a, 1b); a switching means (2) for connecting the first and secondλ/2 resonators (1a, 1b); a control means (3) for controlling the switching means (2); and detection means (4, 5), connected to the first and secondλ/2 resonators (1a, 1b) for detecting down-converted signal, wherein the control means (3) is adapted to initiate in a down-conversion cycle of the switching means (2), to connect the first and secondλ/2 resonators for approximate half of the RF carrier period of the modulated signal. With this pole switch down-converter, adjacent RF channels can be selected and down-converted, by only slightly varying the pole switching repetition frequency. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
