PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographing apparatus which prevents generating of the distortion of a display image by a connected picture display device without requiring addition of a new hardware, and also to provide a video signal output method. SOLUTION: A microcomputer 40 derives an aspect ratio of a displaying area based on image information obtained by photographing by the CCD 24 of a display area in a television receiver to be outputted of a video signal, and sets to a digital signal processing unit 30 so that it may become derived aspect ratio without generating a distortion in the subject image by the aspect ratio of the subject image displayed by the video signal.
