The multi-purpose clip or clothes peg (1) consisting of plastic or metal has an inner-lying spring (2), whereby the members (3) of the peg are held together by the spring which effects a parallel fixing of these members. The free-lying spring segment (4) functions as a rotational point when the peg is spread. The spring may be either cast simultaneously with the peg members in a plastic injection moulding process, or corresponding recesses (5) may be formed in the peg members into which the spring is inserted with positive locking after the hardening of the members.
