The bristle carrying base (2) of the toothbrush is assembled of two segments (4, 12). The first segment (4) adjacent to the handle (3) is made of polypropylene and has a semicircular recess (8) at the front. When the brush is molded a core is positioned at the place for the later recess (8). In a second step the space (8) is filled with polyamide. Both segments (4, 12) can be moved individually within limits. A collar (10) prevents the front segment (12) from being removed unintentionally.
