Method for homogeneous, direct quantitative determination of molecular modifications comprises labeling the molecules with a fluorescent dye. The change in the lifetime of fluorescence between the molecules and the modified molecules is then measured. An independent claim is included for a kit containing fluorescent dye-molecule conjugates and other reagents for carrying out the method.
