<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a settlement system in which difference between settlement processing time by an IC card and that by a portable telephone can be reduced when such settlement is performed by a plurality of customers jointly. <P>SOLUTION: When the plurality of customers perform settlement jointly by using an IC card 510, a portable telephone 520 and a portable telephone 530, respectively, a store management server 100 acquires, from those medium devices, information on the performance thereof through a store terminal 200. Then, the store management server 100 calculates the capability value of each medium device from the information on the performance, and when the maximum value of the difference in the capability values is not less than a predetermined threshold, the store management sever 100 makes only the medium device whose capability value is the highest execute external authentication and internal authentication, and makes the other devices execute the internal authentication. When the difference in the capability values is less than the predetermined value, the store management server 100 assigns the CPU utilization rates of processing for the respective medium devices of the store terminal 200 according to the capability values, and makes each medium device execute the internal authentication and the external authentication and the settlement processing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
