PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which can be easily identified and is capable of removing only a overcoat layer, and to provide an optical fiber cable provided with the coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: The coated optical fiber is composed of an optical fiber 2, a first cover layer 3 which covers the optical fiber 2, a second cover layer 4 which covers the first cover layer 3, a colored layer 7 disposed on the surface of outer periphery of the second cover layer 4 and an overcoat layer 6 which covers the colored layer 7.
