PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional method of fire fighting with water mist releases the water mist downward from the upper side of flames so that the water mist (water of fire-extinguishing material) cannot reach the base of the flames since it is rolled up by the flames so that fire fighting is difficult and a large quantity of water has to be released for fire fighting due to the difficulty in addition, in the method of fighting the pool fire of oil etc. with the water mist. SOLUTION: This method fights fire by the released water mist which reaches inside of the flames by riding an air flow generated at the base (a) of the flames of the pool fire. By the phase change of the mist (from a liquid to a gas), (1) a cooling effect is obtained by the latent heat of evaporation, and (2) a lowering effect of oxygen concentration in the air is obtained by water vapor. (3) By changing of mist to the water vapor, volume is expanded to accelerate flow upward. Thus, the flames are stretched and extended from an oil surface and cannot be touched to also due to lowering of the oxygen concentration. Thus, fire fighting is accelerated and the quantity of water required for fire fighting is reduced as the result. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
