The invention relates to a fuel cell system where a high-pressure gas supply tube is connected to a gas supply opening of a fuel cell, a gas pressure regulation valve is installed in the middle of the high-pressure gas supply tube, and upstream side and down stream side shut-off valves are provided respectively on the upstream side and downstream side of the gas pressure regulation valve of the high-pressure gas supply tube. Such a fuel cell system is activated by opening the upstream side shut-off valve and then opening the downstream side shut-off valve. However, there is a problem in this fuel cell system that when the downstream side shut-off valve is opened before the upstream side of the downstream side shut-off valve on a hydrogen supply tube is not sufficiently pressurized, high-pressure gas passing through a restricted section of a hydrogen pressure regulation valve causes pulsation in the supply tube, producing a loud noise. The invention solves the above problem by providing control means in the fuel cell system. When the difference in pressure between a gas pressure (P3) upstream of the upstream side shut-off valve (31) and a gas pressure (P1) downstream of the downstream side shut-off valve (33) is greater than a reference value, the control means causes opening timing of the downstream side shut-off valve (33) to come after a time period after the upstream side shut-off valve (31) is opened. |
