PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backing strip for welding in which any cavities caused by gas are hardly generated in opposing parts of two members to be welded during the welding, the weld build-up is easily penetrated to the opposite side, and penetration of the weld build-up to the opposite side can be checked, and to provide a welding method and a welding structure for welding the two members by using the backing strip for welding. SOLUTION: The backing strip 5 for welding is used in a welding method in which a first member 4 to be welded is faced to a second member 2 to be welded, and weld build-up is performed along opposing parts. A round bar 51 or a round cylinder 51 is held between the first member 4 and the second member 2 and has projections 52 to regulate the space therebetween.
