PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying crude 1,4-bis(bromodifluoromethyl)benzene having difficulty in separation and purification and an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: Diphenylmethane that has a relatively high boiling point and is not reacted with 1,4-bis(bromodifluoromethyl)benzene is used and mixed with crude 1,4-bis(bromodifluoromethyl)benzene and the mixture is distilled. Then the purity of a distillate for each lot is measured, and distillates having purities reaching the expectation are collected to give high-purity 1,4-bis(bromodifluoromethyl)benzene.
