An image system for monitoring an area to be imaged effectively. In a monitor (1), an imaging unit (11) captures an image of the area to be monitored, a communication unit (16) transmits the captured image to a terminal, a monitoring terminal (2) receives the images, and an enlarged image display unit displays at least two enlarged images included in the received image on one screen. The monitor (1) transmits an image coded by a standard image encoding unit (13) to the monitoring terminal (2) if the monitor (1) receives no request signal from the monitoring terminal (2) and transmits an image coded by a high-definition image encoding unit (14) to the monitoring terminal (2) if the monitor (1) receives a request signal. Further the monitor (1) outputs information on abnormality. If the monitor (1) receives a request signal from the monitoring terminal (2) in response to the information, the monitor (1) transmits an image coded by the high-definition encoding unit (14) to the monitoring terminal (2). |
