<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining a stable image and preventing a user from receiving an unpleasant feeling during maintenance. <P>SOLUTION: When the image forming apparatus enters into a maintenance mode (YES in S11), the purport is displayed and an inquiry which is regarded as important, picture quality or time, to a user is displayed (S12).
