PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further increase an aligning effect by adopting the control of the number of times of jog operation and the control of speed according to the number of sheets of a paper bundle, in a paper bundle edge aligning device. SOLUTION: The maximum number of times of jog operation capable of providing at paper bundle carrying intervals is calculated by a maximum jog number calculation means 3. On the other hand, a proper number of times of jog operation according to the number of sheets and number of times of jog operation table 4. When the proper number of times of jog operation by a jog number control means 2 is less than the maximum number of times, that number of times is considered to the number of times of jog operation. When it is larger than the maximum number of times, that number of times is considered to be the maximum number of times. The number of times is controlled to a proper one by increasing a carrying time interval, the lowest speed when the proper number of times of jog operation is performed in the time interval is calculated by a jog speed control means 6, and the calculated speed is transmitted to a jog means 5.
