PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printer apparatus wherein printing to a sheet is clearly carried out without additional members set. SOLUTION: A paper feed roller 2 and a pinch roller 4 for moving the sheet 21 back and forth, a motor 10 for giving a driving force to the sheet feed roller 2, a thermal head 6 for carrying out thermal transfer, and a control part 12 for controlling a series of operations are set in the thermal transfer printer apparatus 1. A helical gear 14 for transmitting the driving force of the motor 10 is installed at the sheet feed roller 2. At the time of moving from the sheet feeding operation to the printing operation, the reverse operation is carried out in which the motor 10 is rotated in an opposite direction to that of the sheet feeding operation in a state without the thermal head 6 pressed against the sheet 21, and in which the sheet 21 is shifted together with a thrust backlash beforehand.
