PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fiberboard which contains only a small amount of residual formaldehyde and residual phenols, has high peel strength, and is good dimensional stability when it absorbs water. SOLUTION: An adhesive is supplied to a fiber mat comprising the aggregates of kenaf fibers obtained by fibrillating kenaf, and after the mat supplied with the adhesive is dried, the mat is heated and pressed to produce the fiberboard. A phenol resin adhesive at least 400 in weight average molecular weight which is obtained by reacting 1.5-2.5 mol of formaldehyde with 1 mol of phenols is used as the adhesive supplied to the mat.
