PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device and method for a printing mask which can improve the removing efficiency of cream solder. SOLUTION: The cleaning device is provided with a brush which is arranged on the first surface side for a printing mask with an opening section and is brought into direct contact with the cream solder adhered on the opening section to remove the cream solder out of the opening section, a suction mechanism which is arranged on the second surface side of the printing mask to suck the cream solder removed with the brush, and a control unit for controlling the brush and the suction mechanism for allowing them to interlock with each other so that the timing for removing the cream solder with the brush can substantially synchronize with the timing for sucking the cream solder with the suction mechanism.
