[Class 146 (iii)] In a multicolour pencil comprising an outer sleeve 1, a tubular member 3 mounted coaxially in the sleeve and movable longitudinally therein by a plunger 7 slidably held at one end of the sleeve and with a holder 5 for a pencil lead 4 at the other end of the sleeve, a magazine 6 is provided in the member 3, eccentrically disposed and divided into a plurality of longitudinal compartments for leads of different colours and adapted for engagement with the plunger 7 so that any one of the compartments may be brought into axial register with the longitudinal axis of the tubular member 3 so that its lead can pass to the lead holder 5. The lead holder 5 is clamped on to the lead by means of a spring 2 pressing on the member 3 which is held against rotation in the sleeve 1 by a pin 14 riding in a slot 15. The magazine 6 which has partitions 17 and a spring pressed ball 20 to hold the magazine against unintentional rotation, is rotated by the plunger 7 which has teeth 24 coacting with teeth 23 on the magazine. Coloured grooves 28 on the plunger 7 are provided, the colour showing through an aperture 29 corresponding to the lead over the holder. Leads are inserted through the holder 5 and a collar 18 limits their longitudinal movement. A re:ess 26 is provided for spare pencil leads. |
