<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To grasp an actual connection state between constituent nodes of a virtual LAN in Ethernet(R) even when the constituent nodes are unknown. <P>SOLUTION: The virtual LAN topology of a network where the virtual LAN is set is grasped. A request packet including a count value indicating a frequency of communication between nodes is sent from an arbitrary node which certainly belongs to the virtual LAN to adjacent nodes which belong to the virtual LAN and are adjacent. Each of the nodes, when receiving the request packet, performs specified addition to or subtraction from the count value and sends the request packet to adjacent nodes except the sending node of the received request packets which belong to the virtual LAN and are adjacent to the node, and also sends an answer packet including the address (sender address) of the sender, the address (answering node address) of the node as the answering node, and the count value to a specified sending-back destination. The specified sending-back destination collects sent answer packets and grasp the topology of the nodes constituting the virtual LAN from the information included in the answer packet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
