PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a numerical control device capable of easily managing maintenance and preventing illegal use of an optional function. SOLUTION: A non-volatile memory storing parameter data is divided into a storage area storing data about an optional parameter and a storage area storing data other than those about the optional parameter. When the parameter data are outputted to an external storage device to be restored (b1), it is determined whether the optional parameter storage area holds any data or not (b3, b4). Only when this area has no data, the optional parameter can be restored in the non-volatile memory (b5). In this way, illicit use of the optional function can be prevented. Only when hardware is replaced and no data is stored in the data storage area for the optional parameter, restoration is carried out for recovering an original condition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
