PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a channel state evaluation method and a channel state generator circuit in a digital television receiver. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a digital television receiver provided with a channel state generating circuit for removing the NTSC co-channel interference and a method thereof. In the digital television receiver, the channel state generating circuit generates a channel state information signal from the output of a determination feedback equalizer utilizing periodic characteristics of an NTSC signal in order to acquire an improved SNR, and outputs the channel state information signal to a trellis decoder for computing a branch metric.
