Connector for receiving two different counterparts

A connector may mate with low density and high density pcb modules. The connector may be formed with rows 41, 42 of connecting contacts, one row 42 being behind the another 41 in the mating direction, the connector being arranged so that a high density pcb card 52 can contact both rows by penetrating the one to reach the other, and a low density pcb card can contact only the one row. The cards may be optical I/O cards. Further rows of contacts may be provided as needed.
