The sharpener (1) includes a body (2), a guide sleeve (3) and the cutting blade (4). The sleeve has an oval boring (17) defining the pencil guide channel (18). A concave guide contour is formed on an inner surface (14) of the blade holder (10), into which the blade projects. The guide contour and the guide sleeve are arranged so that the axis of the pencil guide channel follows an oval path.
