Coriander oil compositions comprising it having anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, and use thereof

Use of coriander oil (I) for antimicrobial and/or antiphlogistic effect. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a preparation containing (I); (2) a cosmetic method for applying or contacting (I) or (A) on/with, respectively, affected parts of the skin, mucosa or interior of oral cavity; (3) a method for prophylaxis and therapy of diseases caused by microbes in the skin, the mucosa or the oral cavity comprising contacting (I) and/or (A) and/or their derivatives or metabolites in the affected parts; and (4) a method for prophylaxis and therapy of inflammatory diseases comprising contacting or topically applying (I) or (A) and/or their derivatives or metabolites on the affected parts. ACTIVITY : Antibacterial; Antimicrobial; Dermatological; Virucide; Fungicide; Antiinflammatory; Antipsoriatic; Antiseborrheic; Antiallergic; Antipruritic; Immunosuppressive. The antibacterial activity of (I) was tested against Staphylococcus aureus. The results showed that the inhibition value exhibited by (I) was 9-10 mm. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
