Use of a composition (A) in a medium for stripping of artificial color of keratinous fibers, comprises a phosphine or its additive salts with an acid as a major reducing agent. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a process for stripping of artificial color from keratinous fibers comprising applying on the keratinous fibers for a considerable period of time for exposure to strip; and (2) a device with several compartments used for dyeing and then stripping of the artificial color from keratinous fibers, comprising a first compartment containing a composition comprising at least a precursor of dye and/or dye and a second compartment containing (A).
