A pressure gauge head (22) has a membrane (26) and a membrane operated with it in an integrated manner. A detection device detects any excursion in the membrane. The pressure gauge head is formed from steel and has an expansion in any direction parallel to the membrane less than 20 mm. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a pressure gauge head for a pressure sensor for measuring absolute or differential pressures in a range of between 10->1> and 102> bar.
